About the Event
Writing My Chapter: A Bar/Bat Mitzvah Journey by the National Library of Israel
- Are you looking for an engaging and creative way to celebrate the milestone of becoming Bar/Bat Mitzvah?
- Wondering how to empower teens and convey that they are a crucial part of creating the Jewish story?
- Want to set the stage for meaningful conversation between generations?
Shuvi Hoffman, Global Jewish Education Manager - National Library of Israel (NLI), will present a new and exciting program, beautifully designed and ready-to-use just for you!
It's modular so you can use it as a 12 session programme or you can pick and choose the parts that speak to you and your learners. Also, it’s designed for various formats (group learning or hevruta pairs), and can be applied in different settings such as camp, youth groups, classrooms or even at home as a family experience.
Writing My Chapter: A Bar/Bat Mitzvah Journey by the National Library of Israel is infused with selected treasures from our archives and collections that originate from Jewish communities around the world over different time periods. Weaving together history, personal reflection and creative challenges, the programme opens teens up to a world of discovery as they deep-dive into the expansive Jewish story.
Throughout the programme, the participants are invited to document their unique journey in a shareable digital scrapbook we have designed especially for them. There they can add and share their personal reflections and experiences by creating and collecting the elements that make this milestone meaningful to them!

About the partnership
Centropa has a unique family history database. The National Library of Israel has an outstanding Judaica collection. We discovered it’s even better if we put the two together. In our cooperation, we develop resource packs with films, primary sources, worksheets and teaching suggestions – for various subjects and age groups.
